Pick using a tote for each order
Wave picking, unlike bulk picking, requires a tote for each order. This allows the picker to sort all products by tote/order. The picker is navigated to the nearest bin to pick the ordered product(s). Once the products are picked, the system navigates the picker to the nearest storage location to pick the second product for the same order. Once all products have been picked for the first order, another tote must be scanned to collect the products for the subsequent order, and so on. When all products for all orders are picked, the wave is complete. The next wave starts from the nearest bin location where the last product was picked.
Setup pick list plan - wave picking
Navigate to [Pick lists] > [Plans] and click [Create]. Or to get an overview of all Pick list Plans available first, click [Plans]. From this Pick list plans overview top-right corner, hover the [vertical ellipsis] and click [Create].
Once an appropriate Pick list Plan Name is entered, make sure the Pick List Type Wave is selected.
Based on or in combination with: account, bin location aisle, bin location rack, bin location zone, channel, product, product packaging, quantity, shipping method, ship at or even if orders are fully allocated a Pick list Plan is generated.
For example, it is only required to Pick for a specific account and in combination with a specific product or multiple products can be defined. Once the selection (set of rules) is applied, the list of Applicable (allocated) orders is presented at the bottom of the screen.
If this is a new Pick list plan, it requires to be Activated first. Hover the [vertical ellipsis] and click on [Activate], then click on the [Update Pick list plan] button.
The Pick list Plan could be executed to generate the pick lists within this Wave. To do this, navigate to [Pick lists] > [Plans].
From this Pick list Plans overview, the Actions column will display the Release wave icon. Click on the [Release wave] icon to generate the pick lists for the applicable orders.
Once completed, navigate to [Pick lists]. This overview will show all Pick list, wether it belongs to a pick list plan type Wave, Bulk, Batch or pick lists that were generated individually (outside a wave).
To start picking (all pick lists) generated for this wave, it requires to assign only one Pick list to a Picker. Once the Picker finished the first Pick list within the Wave, we automatically assign the next Pick list to this Picker and pointing to the nearest location calculated from the last pick bin location.
